Boilerplate

Copy any of the three lengths below. They all carry the same claims; pick the one that fits your space.

Short — 1 sentence

GovForge is a local-first audit trail for AI coding agents — open source, Apache 2.0, govforge.dev.

Medium — 1 paragraph

GovForge is open-source governance infrastructure for AI coding agents. It records every code decision an agent makes — diff, rationale, policy verdict, peer review, human approval — in an append-only local audit trail. The CLI, MCP server, and HTTP API run entirely on the developer's machine; no telemetry, no outbound network calls.

Long — 2 paragraphs

GovForge is open-source governance infrastructure for AI coding agents like Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Cline and Aider. It captures the seven artefacts that turn an agentic code change into an auditable one — Decision, GitChange, PolicyResult, Review, Disagreement, Approval, Event — and exposes them through MCP tools, an HTTP API, a Go CLI (gf), and a local cockpit UI. The whole stack is local-first: a SQLite file at .govforge/govforge.db, no cloud sync, no telemetry, verifiable by source-grep tests in CI. Released in May 2026 under Apache 2.0 by Eric Vaillancourt (Talsom, Montréal). The OSS path stays free forever; a future SaaS layer (RBAC, SSO, signed approvals, compliance reports) targets teams that need it.

Logo & marks

Three SVG variants, all monochrome via currentColor. Drop them on any background that has enough contrast.

Do

  • Use the wordmark when you have horizontal space; the mark when you don't.
  • Reserve clear space at least equal to the height of the rounded square.
  • Match the foreground colour of the surrounding text.
  • Spell the product name as one word: GovForge.
  • Refer to the CLI as gf (lowercase, two letters).

Don't

  • Don't recolour individual paths. The mark is monochrome on purpose.
  • Don't outline the wordmark text — it ships at semi-bold already.
  • Don't rotate, skew, or stretch any of the assets.
  • Don't write the product name as Gov Forge, Gov-Forge, or GOVFORGE.
  • Don't lay the wordmark over a busy photographic background — use the filled mark instead.

Append-only event log for a single decision — diff, policy verdicts, reviews, approval.

Disagreement view

Two agents review the same change and disagree. The disagreement is its own first-class record.

CLI workflow

End-to-end gf flow from gf init through gf approve, captured as an asciinema cast.

Charcoal canvas with the GovForge wordmark and tagline. Used as the default social card.

Cockpit screenshots ship with the v0.2 release. Until then, the OG image and asciinema cast are the canonical visuals.

Founder & maintainer

Eric Vaillancourt

Principal engineer at Talsom (Montréal). Builds tooling at the boundary between AI coding agents and the engineering practices that keep production systems alive. Previously: data platforms, ML infrastructure, and a long stretch of being on-call at 3 AM for things he didn't write.
